The Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes is due to run at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney on Saturday April 28, 2012.
The 2012 Queen Elizabeth Stakes is set to run over a distance of 2,000 metres and is run under weight-for-age conditions.
Worth $500,000 in prize money, the 2012 Queen Elizabeth Stakes is open to horses of any age.
Speediness is targeting 2012 Queen Elizabeth Stakes later this month.
The four-year-old gelding finished fourth in the Group 2 Blamey Stakes two starts back behind Green Moon and then went on to finish a disappointing seventh in the Group 2 Ajax Stakes last start.
Despite the setback, trainer Colin Scott feels Speediness had exceled since the run and worked superbly in his most recent track gallop.
“I galloped him in blinkers and he went outstanding,” Scott said.
“I also had him vetted that afternoon just to tick all the boxes.”
Speediness will compete in the 2012 Doncaster Prelude this Saturday April 14, 2012, and will need to feature in the finish is he is to run in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
“He’s not nominated for the Doncaster but he probably needs to win if we want to go to the Queen Elizabeth in two weeks,” Scott said.
“Or, he’d need to be desperately unlucky.
“Plan B is the paddock. If things don’t pan out like we hope he’ll go to the paddock and come back for the spring.”
Speediness has won four of his 11 race starts and has earned more than $210,000 in prize money during his career.
