Queen Elizabeth Stakes 2012 – Nominations Released

April 23rd, 2012

Nominations have been released for the 2012 Queen Elizabeth Stakes, which is due to run at Royal Randwick Racecourse this Saturday April 28, 2012.

Manighar is included in the 2012 Queen Elizabeth Stakes nominations and will be looking to extend his winning streak even further.

The six-year-old gelding has won four of his five race starts this campaign, with his most recent being in the Group 1 The BMW on April 7, 2012.

Trainer Peter Moody is hopeful another win will give Manighar the credit he deserves after winning his past three Group 1 starts.

“No-one has given him any credit for winning,” Moody said.

“Every time he’s won he’s been deemed very lucky and they tend to forget about him.

“I think people are starting to worry about him (Manighar) know. I think it brought about Americain’s downfall in the BMW.

“(Gerald) Mosse was more worried about where Manighar was than where he was.

“We haven’t done a lot with him since the BMW.

“I’ll gallop him in the morning (Monday) and go from there.”

Manighar has won ten if his 27 race starts and has earned more than $3.3 million in prize money.

More Joyous is also nominated for a run in the 2012 Queen Elizabeth Stakes after winning the Group 1 Doncaster Mile last start.

The five-year-old mare has won all three of her race starts this preparation and will be out to make it four in a row in the 2012 Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

More Joyous has won 18 of her 25 race starts and has earned more than $3.94 million in prize money.
