Autumn star It’s A Dundeel will get the chance to chase a fourth straight Group 1 win on Saturday when he heads the field for the 2013 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick.
The three-year-old dominated all before him to claim the Sydney 3YO triple crown and is certain to start a short-priced favourite this weekend.
Trainer Murray Baker has described him as one of the best he has trained and many experts are labelling him a potential champion.
His star status will reach new heights this weekend if he can defeat the older horses and one of his top rivals is Peter Moody-trained import Manighar.
Manighar was one of last autumn’s top performers but has failed to show the same spark this year. But Moody is confident he is ready to produce a big performance after he ran on with promise for fourth in the George Ryder Stakes.
It’s A Dundeel isn’t the only talented Kiwi in the race and is joined in the field by quality mares Silent Achiever and Zurella.
Silent Achiever is coming off a strong second in the BMW while Zurella will need to improve considerably from a disappointing Easter Handicap run in New Zealand.
There is no shortage of quality in the nine-horse field with a number of Group 1 winners included such as Happy Trails, Glass Harmonium and Secret Admirer.
