A four-time Group 1 winner, Criterion booked a trip abroad with his resounding win in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes last year; running third in the Group 1 QEII Stakes (2000m) at Hong Kong before placing fifth in the Group 1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes (2011m) and sixth in the Group 1 Juddmonte International Stakes (2092m).

Returning to Australia for success in the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m), the Sebring entire charged home to finish second to Winx in the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) before producing a particularly gutsy effort to place third in the Melbourne Cup (3200m).

Clearly requiring the run and more distance when seventh in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) first-up, Criterion ran on for third in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) last time and will reportedly line up for the Queen Elizabeth Stakes in prime condition.

The United States has received some attention in 2016 Queen Elizabeth Stakes betting markets at this weekend but remains firm as $4.20 favourite.

A strong and consistent performer for Macedon Lodge in spring, The United States placed second in the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes (2000m) and won the Group 2 Moonee Valley Cup (2500m) most notably; ending his season fourteenth in the Melbourne Cup.

Resuming this time for fifth in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m), the Galileo entire ran on for a close second in the Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) before posting a maiden win at the highest level in the Ranvet Stakes last time out.

Preferment has been the big drifter in 2016 Queen Elizabeth Stakes betting markets this week; cutting out from a quote of $4.40 to currently rest at $5.50 odds.

Preferment has won a total of four Group 1 feature races through a strong and consistent 20 start career so far and has arguably returned to racing in career-best form to date this time.

Running fourth in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) first-up, the Zabeel entire returned to winning form in the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) before repeating the dose in the Group 1 The BMW (2400m).

There is something of a question over whether or not Preferment will be able to account for a drop back in distance to 2000m, however the horse is clearly very adaptable and will be partnered by leading hoop Hugh Bowman.
