Cylinder Beach has been a strong and consistent performer on Queensland racetracks since making his competitive debut in late autumn of 2015; posting a commendable five wins and as many minors, through only fourteen competitive appearances.

Forster admits that the Showcasing gelding is faced with a monumental task should he take his position alongside Winx in the 2017 Queen Elizabeth Stakes field, but believes that the four-year-old is more than deserving of lining up in the country’s best races.

“He’ll go to Sydney now and have his first run in the Ajax Stakes in two weeks, then I’ll assess him after that,” Forster told Racing Queensland News.

“He’s nominated for the Doncaster Mile and the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

“It’s probably dreaming to take on Winx in the Queen Elizabeth but we’ve got to have our dreams.

“He’s a nice horse who is only just starting to mature.

“He was a very good two-year-old but he had to go back a lot from bad barriers.

“He’s a lot more mature now and the cream always rises to the top.”

Cylinder Beach was an impressive two-year-old performer upon making his competitive debut; running third in the talent-rich Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1350m) in only his third start before ending his campaign fourth in the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m).

Resuming in 2016 for a smart win in the Group 3 Gunsynd Classic (1630m), Cylinder Beach progressed to second behind Mackintosh in the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate (2000m), but tailed off to finish ninth in the Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes (2200m) and fifteenth in the Group 1 Queensland Derby (2400m).

Returning to action to win the Listed Recognition Stakes (1400m) on November 26th, Cylinder Beach placed second behind Man Of His Word in the Listed Brisbane Handicap (1600m) and won the Listed Bernborough Handicap (1600m) on New Year’s Eve.

Cylinder Beach returned from a freshen-up to comfortably win the Betfairy Handicap (1350m) at Doomben on February 25th, and is currently available at early 2017 Queen Elizabeth Stakes odds of $201 at Ladbrokes.com.au.
