Winx remains a firm $1.09 favourite to win the Queen Elizabeth Stakes on Saturday, but punters at Ladbrokes.com.au can take advantage of an inflated $2 quote for the champion mare in their unique betting market.

Will one of her rivals produce the biggest upset of the 2017 Autumn Carnival, or will Winx justify her clear favouritism in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes?

1st

Winx ($1.09)

Winx has returned to racing in typically dominant form this year and should just win the Queen Elizabeth Stakes on Saturday. Returning to the paddock after successfully defending her crown in the Cox Plate, the Street Cry mare resumed this time to win the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) and has since posted dominant wins in each of the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) and Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m). Drawn ideally in barrier 3, Winx will be partnered by regular hoop Hugh Bowman in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes and should just win the race.

2nd

Hartnell ($11)

Hartnell is undoubtedly the second best horse in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes field and represents terrific value at his current odds. A dominant winner of each of the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m), Group 2 Hill Stakes (2000m) and Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) in spring, the Authorized gelding ran second behind Winx in the Cox Plate before ending his year third in the Melbourne Cup. Hartnell placed second in the Apollo Stakes first-up this time and whole going amiss in the Chipping Norton Stakes, responded well for second in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) last time out. Hartnell has drawn into the Queen Elizabeth Stakes field on the rails and will be partnered by James Doyle.

3rd

Happy Clapper ($18)

Happy Clapper worked to the line well for a close second in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) last weekend and should carry plenty of benefit into the Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Third in last year’s edition of the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, the Teofilo gelding resumed this time for second in the Listed National Sprint (1400m) on March 5th; progressing to a smart win in the Group 3 Newcastle Newmarket Handicap (1500m) in his only other start prior to the Doncaster Mile. Blake Shinn will take the ride from barrier 5.
