Winx was a clear $1.10 favourite in Queen Elizabeth Stakes betting markets leading up to jump and was settled in prime position on the heels of early leaders No Doubt, The United States, Hartnell and Happy Clapper; immediately setting into an ideal rhythm.

Jockey Hugh Bowman pulled the mare off the fence approaching the bend and she easily worked her way into the race; finding the leaders as the field straightened.

Bowman was once again a passenger as the daughter of Street Cry jogged clear of her talented rivals with complete ease; hitting the line well in the clear of Hartnell; Sense Of Occasion producing another outstanding run to finish a close third.

The leading hoop was elated with Winx’s performance to win the Queen Elizabeth Stakes and was completely taken by her class this afternoon.

“She wheeled past them at the top of the straight and she still let down, but honestly I think when he she gets in a high pressure race when there’s a lot of pace at the start, that’s when you see the best of her,” Bowman said.

“What a supreme athlete she is and what an honour it is just to be a part of her career.

“I don’t hit her too often, but I wanted that supreme effort in the Grand Final and when I gave her one, she just extended again and I could really feel the crowd’s love for her.

“She’s the ultimate professional and I love her.”

Trainer Chris Waller was emotional after Winx’s win in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes and was quick to heap all the praise on the equine superstar.

“She makes anything look perfect,” Waller said.

“She makes me look like a genius and Hughie does a great job, but I think it should all be about Winx.

“Everywhere she goes, people following her at home – it’s very humbling.

“It’s indescribable really, we take it very seriously and she just does great things. I think it’s the same every start, we should look into patterns with her she’s just indescribable.”

In being crowned the 2017 Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner, Winx has now posted seventeen-consecutive race wins, through a career that has included a total of twenty-one wins and three minors from twenty-seven starts.
